Dear Pam,

Thanks again for appearing as a guest lecturer for my Personal and Family Health Class here at Oxnard College earlier this month.  Your presentation on alternative medicine and, specifically, the history and role of Reiki as a viable option for consideration in an individual’s continuum of heath care was both informative and entertaining.

In speaking with the students the following week, many were much more open to the concept of non-traditional approaches to health care, which was the very purpose of the Chapter you covered.  Those who volunteered for your demonstrations all remarked on the “energy” they felt during the time you were working with them.  As you’ll recall, we had one student who approached me during your lecture to ask if she could leave early because she was experiencing lower back and sciatica pain resulting from a traffic accident in which she was involved during the previous week.  She accepted my offer and allowed you to spend 15 minutes treating her, and clearly she was moving more freely after the treatment.  The following week, she told me that her pain had significantly receded over the next 2 days and while she was not completely pain free, she was able to move without any visible distress, which was a far cry from the way she presented the evening you were there.

The other highlight of the evening (for the students) was when you finished treating another student and then asked her to keep her eyes closed as you wrote things on the whiteboard behind her that you had detected she was seeing during the treatment.  I believe you wrote “Tropical Island” and “the color blue”.  The student told us she had seen a relaxing place with lots of water and greens and blues.

Frankly, I’m glad I scheduled this as the last lecture class of the semester so the students wouldn’t be disappointed having to revert to my dryer, more technical presentations. In summary, I would be only too happy to ask you to return for future classes.  Many thanks and best wishes.

Sincerely,
